Cityfort calculation from FY2025 10-K. Of every $100 of FY2025 sales: each line = line ÷ $147.6 billion × 100. Store, staff and office costs leave out the $2.5 billion fulfillment network charge, shown on its own line; both sit in the 10-K's operating, general and administrative costs.

04Why it makes money
Why does Kroger make money?
Kroger keeps a thin slice of very large sales, so small changes in costs move profit a lot.
After the cost of goods, $23.3 of every $100 of FY2025 sales was left to pay for stores, staff, rent and equipment. Operating profit was $1.3 per $100 in FY2025, after the $2.5 billion fulfillment charge, against $2.6 in FY2024. Kroger says loyalty-card data lets it sell ads to brands, a business it describes as higher-margin than grocery.
