How this is worked out

Cityfort calculation from the FY2025 10-K. Of every $100 that came in during FY2025: each line = line ÷ $41.4 billion (net revenues of $40.6 billion plus $705 million of income from equity investments and securities) × 100. Because of that income, net income here ($27.4) is lower than net income ÷ net revenues ($27.9).

04Why it makes money

Why does Philip Morris International make money?

Consumers rebuy the same brands, so PMI keeps a large share of each sale even as cigarette volumes fall.

PMI kept $67.1 of gross profit per $100 of FY2025 net revenues after making its products. Price rises have offset falling cigarette volumes: FY2025 cigarette shipments fell 1.5% while combustible revenue rose 2.5%. Marketing, administration and research rose from $26.7 to $30.4 per $100 between FY2021 and FY2025 as PMI built its smoke-free business.
