Positions policy

What I may hold in the companies Cityfort covers, when I don't trade, and why companies and advertisers cannot pay for coverage.

Last updated Nov 1, 2026

The policy

I may hold shares in companies I cover. Where I do, the page says so next to my byline.

I never trade a stock in the 2 trading days before or after I publish or update its page.

Companies, their underwriters and advertisers cannot pay to be covered, removed or described differently, and I don't accept payment from them for coverage. Nobody pays Cityfort to cover a company.

Why it matters

Cityfort explains companies; it does not recommend them. Keeping the site impersonal, educational and unpaid by the companies it covers is what keeps it a publisher of general information rather than an investment adviser.

If a company, or anyone acting for it, ever paid for coverage, US securities law (Section 17(b) of the Securities Act of 1933) would require that payment to be disclosed. Cityfort does not accept such payments.
