What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. They help a site remember things between visits.
Similar tools, like your browser's local storage, work in much the same way. This policy covers both.
Our own analytics uses no cookies
Cityfort counts visits with its own analytics. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address. It keeps one random visit code in your browser's session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab and replaced after 30 minutes of inactivity. It runs whatever you choose in the cookie banner. Our privacy policy explains how it works.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the site to work, so they do not need your consent. Cityfort has no reader accounts, so there is no login cookie for readers.
- Your cookie choice: we remember whether you clicked "Accept" or "Reject". This is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
Analytics (only after "Accept")
Google Analytics helps us see how people use the site as a whole. It loads only if you click "Accept".
Advertising (only after "Accept")
Blog and learn pages may show ads from Google AdSense. AdSense cookies load only after you accept them, and only on those pages. Stock and IPO pages carry no ads.
Google may use these cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this site and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's ad settings.
Cookies by category
| Cookie | Category | Provider | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cf-s (session storage) | Analytics (our own, cookieless) | Cityfort | Groups page views into one visit | Until the tab closes or 30 minutes without activity |
| Consent choice (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Cityfort | Remembers your cookie choice | Until you change it or clear your browser data |
_ga | Analytics | Google Analytics | Tells visitors apart | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Analytics | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit | 2 years |
__gads | Advertising | Google AdSense | Lets Google show and measure ads on blog posts | 13 months |
__gpi | Advertising | Google AdSense | An ad identifier set on our site | 13 months |
IDE (on doubleclick.net) | Advertising | Shows ads and, if personalized ads are on, personalises them | Up to 24 months |
In _ga_<id>, the <id> part is our Google Analytics property code. Google may change its cookie names and lifetimes. We check this list when we update the policy.
How to change your choice
Use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. You can switch analytics and advertising cookies on or off at any time.
If you switch them off, we delete the Google cookies set on cityfort.co (_ga, __gads, __gpi) and Google's scripts stop loading from the next page. Cookies Google set on its own domains (such as IDE) stay until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser too. If you block local storage, the site cannot remember your cookie choice.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if we add or remove cookies. The date of the latest update is shown on this page.
