How this is worked out
Cityfort calculation from FY2025 10-K. Of every $100 that came in during FY2025: each line = line ÷ $34,365 million × 100 (sales $33,986 million + pension and retiree benefit credit $229 million + income from part-owned companies $150 million). Operating profit was $8,923 million, or $25.97 of each $100. Depreciation and amortization include amortization from the 2018 merger with Linde AG; Linde puts the merger accounting effect at $941 million of FY2025 operating profit.

02The business in one line
What does Linde do?
Factories, hospitals and other businesses pay Linde for gases delivered by pipeline, tanker truck or cylinder, often under long contracts; most of the money goes on making and delivering them, and $20.07 of every $100 that came in during FY2025 was left as net income.
- In FY2025, cylinder (packaged gas) customers paid 34.9% of Linde's sales, truck-delivered (merchant) customers 29.9%, pipeline (on-site) customers 23.8%, and Engineering and other sales 11.4%.
- Americas earned 46.8% of FY2025 segment operating profit, EMEA 30.1%, APAC 19.1% and Engineering 4.0% (Cityfort calculation from FY2025 10-K).

How spread out the customers are
These shares are by supply method, as Linde reports them (Cityfort calculation from FY2025 10-K). Linde's FY2025 10-K says it is not dependent on a single customer or a few customers, and names end markets such as health care, chemicals and energy, manufacturing, metals and mining, food and beverage, and electronics, without a revenue split by end market.
04Why it makes money
Why does Linde make money?
Linde builds gas plants for customers and signs long contracts with minimum purchases, so a large part of its future sales is already under contract.
On-site contracts typically run 10 to 20 years with minimum purchase requirements and price escalation, and energy costs are largely passed through. Remaining performance obligationsSigned contracts with customers that have not been billed yet., made up of those minimum purchases and Engineering plant sales, were about $62 billion at Dec 31, 2025. GAAP operating profit per $100 of sales rose from $16.2 in FY2021 to $26.3 in FY2025, helped by smaller merger accounting effects ($1,919 million down to $941 million).

What protects the business
Each strength is scored 1 (weak) to 5 (strong) for the business, with the reason. It is not a rating of the share.
- Long contracts with minimum purchases4 of 5
On-site contracts typically run 10 to 20 years with minimum purchase requirements and price escalation. Remaining performance obligations were about $62 billion on Dec 31, 2025.
- Spread across customers and countries4 of 5
Linde's 10-K says it is not dependent on a single customer or a few customers, and about 64% of 2025 sales came from outside the US.
- Energy costs passed through3 of 5
Energy is Linde's largest cost, and its contracts pass it on through pricing formulas, surcharges, cost pass-through and tolling. In FY2025, cost pass-through moved sales by 0%.
Weak spot
Russia-related claims
On Sep 30, 2026, Linde carried a $1.1 billion contingent liability for advance payments claimed by RusChemAlliance and $0.7 billion for Gazprom's Amur claim and other Amur plant contract matters, after sanctions halted its Russian engineering contracts in 2022.
17Where growth could come from
17Where growth could come from
Where could Linde's growth come from?
Linde said in its Oct 29, 2026 earnings release that it expects FY2026 adjusted diluted EPS of $17.82 to $17.92, up 8% to 9%, assuming about 2% help from currency, and Q4 FY2026 adjusted diluted EPS of $4.40 to $4.50. It expects FY2026 capital spending of $5.5 billion to $6.0 billion, a range it first gave in July. These are company measures; Linde says it cannot give the GAAP equivalent without unreasonable effort.
