How this is worked out

Cityfort calculation from FY2025 10-K. Of every $100 that came in during FY2025 (revenue $38,068 million + other income, retiree benefit income and net interest income $1,440 million = $39,508 million): each line = line ÷ $39,508 million × 100. The tax line is negative because income tax was a $2,051 million benefit, mainly from a one-off US valuation allowance release. Operating income was $3.51 and income before taxes $7.16 of each $100.

02The business in one line

What does GE Vernova do?

Utilities, power producers, grid operators and industrial companies pay GE Vernova for turbines, grid equipment and years of servicing; most of the money goes on making and servicing that equipment, and $12.36 of every $100 that came in during FY2025 was left as net income, lifted by a one-off tax benefit.

  • Customers in the US paid 45.6% of FY2025 revenue, Europe 19.9%, the Middle East and Africa 14.2%, Asia 12.2% and the rest of the Americas 8.2%.

How spread out the customers are

These shares are by region because GE Vernova gives no revenue split by type of customer. Its FY2025 10-K names utilities, independent power producers, developers, governments and industrial companies as customers, and says many sales go to governments, public utilities and state-owned companies. The filings used for this page do not disclose revenue from any single customer. Shares are a Cityfort calculation from the FY2025 10-K.

04Why it makes money

Why does GE Vernova make money?

Selling a turbine starts years of service work, and customers now pay ahead to reserve factory slots.

Services were $17.1 billion of FY2025 revenue, from a fleet that keeps needing parts and repairs. Operating income per $100 of revenue went from a loss of $2.7 in FY2021 to $3.6 in FY2025, as Power and Electrification earned more. Customer down payments also bring cash in before revenue is booked.

08What could go wrong

What could go wrong for GE Vernova?

  • Execution

Fixed-price projects can turn into losses

GE Vernova's FY2025 10-K says fixed-price contracts expose it to lower margins and project losses when costs run over. Wind segment EBITDA was a loss every year from FY2022 to FY2025, and the Q3 FY2026 10-Q says Offshore Wind still faces pressure on project costs and timelines.

Watch Wind segment EBITDA each quarter, against the $400 million to $500 million of 2026 losses that GE Vernova said on Oct 28, 2026 it expects.

  • Execution

Long-term service contracts depend on estimates

The FY2025 10-K says profit on long-term service agreements, especially in Gas Power, depends on estimates of equipment durability, reliability and cost over many years. About 1,800 gas turbines are under such agreements.

Watch Changes in estimated profitability of service agreements in the 10-Q notes, and services revenue growth.

  • Demand

Capacity built for demand that may not come

The FY2025 10-K says capacity decisions rest on forecasts, orders, slot reservation agreements and deposits, and that slot reservations may not turn into orders. 58 GW of the 122 GW Gas Power pipeline on Sep 30, 2026 was slot reservations.

Watch How much of the slot reservation total turns into backlog each quarter.

  • Cash and liquidity

Cash flow leans on customer down payments

Operating cash flow of $16,737 million in the first nine months of FY2026 included a $19,511 million rise in contract liabilities, mostly down payments and slot reservation payments. That money is for work GE Vernova has not yet delivered.

Watch Contract liabilities and deferred income each quarter: $45,669 million on Sep 30, 2026.

  • Regulation

    Energy and trade policy

The FY2025 10-K says energy, environmental and tax policy changes can cut demand. The US paused leases for large offshore wind projects under construction on Dec 22, 2025, which affected the Vineyard Wind timeline. The US is about 60% of Onshore Wind's equipment backlog.

Watch US offshore and onshore wind policy, and the tariff cost GE Vernova estimates at under $100 million for 2026.

  • Legal

Tax and legal ties to GE

Under its Tax Matters Agreement, GE Vernova may have to indemnify GE if an IRS audit of GE's 2016 to 2020 returns goes against GE. The Q3 FY2026 10-Q says this could be material, is not reasonably estimable and is not accrued.

Watch Updates on the IRS audit in each 10-Q.

  • Execution

    Large acquisitions

GE Vernova paid $5.2 billion in cash for Prolec GE in February 2026 and agreed in October 2026 to buy Trench Group for about €8.0 billion, half funded by debt. The 10-Q says a termination fee is due if regulatory approvals for Trench are not obtained.

Watch Trench regulatory approvals, expected closing in late 2027, and Electrification segment margins.

    12.8%

Company's own measure: Adjusted EBITDA margin, FY2025

    $12.6B

    Company's own measure: Organic revenue, Q3 FY2026

    $11.7B

  • Official (GAAP): Operating cash flow, first nine months of FY2026

    $16.7B

Company's own measure: Free cash flow, first nine months of FY2026

    $15.3B

    $38.1B

    Company's own measure: Orders, FY2025

    $59.3B

New orders as GE Vernova counts them, after sales between segments. Up 34% organically from $44.1 billion in FY2024. Orders are not a GAAP figure.

    $196.7B

Company's own measure: Gas Power backlog and slot reservations, Sep 30, 2026

    122 GW

64 GW of gas turbine backlog plus 58 GW of slot reservation agreements, which reserve future production and are not in RPO. GE Vernova said on Oct 28, 2026 that it anticipates at least 130 GW by the end of 2026.
